If you are just getting started with exploring custom label printing options, your head may be swimming in terms and processes that are new to you.
It’s true that there is a unique vernacular that goes with the custom label printing industry, but lucky for you, Epsen Hillmer Graphics has been speaking the language of custom labels for more than a hundred years!
At Espen Hillmer Graphics, we can help you with a variety of label options, such as cut & stack, roll-to-roll, and in-mold labels. But today, we’d like to help you get to know more about one of the most versatile and popular custom label choices, Pressure Sensitive Labels (PSL).
You might think of Pressure Sensitive Labels as you would stickers. They are applied using light pressure and have an adhesive backing which is covered by an easy-release liner to protect the “sticky side” before application.
This basic description does little to cover the vast array of options that come along with the Pressure Sensitive Labels. Many different adhesives can be used depending on the intended use. For example, adhesion to glass requires a different adhesive that might be required for applying the PSL to cardboard.
The ability to customize the top side, the visible part of the label when it is applied, is virtually endless, with a wide array of color options, finishes, foils, metallics, glazes, and textures.
A few more of the customization options would be die cut shapes, hot foil stamping, and rotary screening. There really are so many possibilities with pressure sensitive label designs.
There are a lot of benefits to using Pressure Sensitive Labels, and they can be used for just about any product. From plastic water bottles to candles, health and beauty products, and beverages packaged in glass bottles or cans, just to name a few.
Another great benefit which we’ve already touched upon is the vast possibilities for customization. With Pressure Sensitive Labels, they can be printed on substrates such as polypropylene, transparent films, and wet-strength papers, and they can be applied to virtually any smooth surface. With high-quality graphics and above-average durability, Pressure Sensitive Labels (PSL) are an excellent choice for many product applications.
At Epsen Hillmer Graphics, we love Pressure Sensitive Labels because they are so easy to apply. More often than not, they are produced on a roll and can be hand applied (for smaller projects), or machine applied to the finished product (for high-volume orders).
